I am writing to ask if anyone else in town is awakened every Thursday morning by the garbage men? The garbage truck comes down Poplar Street every Thursday morning about 3:30 AM making a fair amount of noise and commotion. I called the Boro and was told the garbage is picked up in the middle of the night because someone complained the garbage truck causes traffic problems during the day time. Sorry, I don't buy that as a legitimate reason to be awakened every Thursday morning.
I am posting this message because I am wondering if I am off base here or if there are others out there who are bothered by the garbage truck noise in the middle of the night? I would like to ask the Boro to have the pickup times changed to a more sensible hour, but I don't want to create an issue if no one else out there feels like I do. I appreciate any thoughts about this. Thanks. |

You might try a 'white noise' device, such as a small fan running in the bedroom. Drowns out those pesky things like traffic, motorcycles, dogs barking, early risers in family,etc. Works real well unless you require absolute, complete silence to sleep in

Thanks for the idea. I run a fan every night, but the trucks make a lot of racket, it's just the nature of collecting our garbage. I really like the folks at CCD, but I wish they would come during the day time.
